St. James’s Place's Polaris funds reach £100bn in assets

St. James’s Place (SJP) has seen its Polaris fund range surpass £100bn in assets, underlining the growing importance of the portfolios within its investment proposition.
The Polaris funds held £101bn at the end of March, accounting for almost half of SJP’s total £217bn of assets under management.
Since launching in November 2022, the range has expanded rapidly and as advisers we have increasingly moved our clients into the portfolios.
The original Polaris range comprises four multi-asset funds with varying equity exposure, ranging from 40% in Polaris 1 to 100% in Polaris 4. These portfolios combine SJP-managed funds with passive investments from providers including iShares and State Street.
SJP later introduced the Polaris Multi-Index range, which invests solely in index-tracking funds. Since its launch, the range has accumulated £2.5bn, while the original Polaris funds hold around £99bn.
Polaris 3 remains the UK’s largest fund with assets of £51bn, while Polaris 4 managed £24bn at the end of March.
Performance has been strong overall, with Polaris 2, 3 and 4 outperforming both Investment Association and Asset Risk Consultants benchmarks since launch. Polaris 1 has beaten its ARC benchmark but trails its IA sector average slightly.1

And don't forget, investing is often used for money that won’t be needed for a number of years, and values can rise and fall over time. Over the long term, investments have historically provided higher returns than savings accounts, although this is not guaranteed and you might not get back everything you invest.
Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.
